With retirement comes NO INTERNET!

Being out at the trailer, mostly full-time, has put a dent in my blogging. I found drafts I hadn't completed and so I am going to be doing a LOT of catching up and trying to post pictures and get the dates right. So here goes...

Dale's birthday was on May 31st. We had all the family out on June 3rd to celebrate and see the campsite. The kids had fun driving the golf cart around and thoroughly "demolishing" the trailer by playing a rousing game of hide and seek in it. Oh well...

We did have a good time, trying out our fire pit. It came in handy when Jonathan inadvertently found a major puddle and got quite wet. I think his shoes were finally dry by home time. We opted for easy and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows.
The afore-mentioned golf cart, loaded with kids - and Papa!
Starting the fire is nothing for Dale, he is a master at it!

And, we were there to celebrate Papa's birthday!

We were able to drive the boat out to the campsite without any trouble with our SUV. It actually drove very well the whole way. We parked it in a spot Dale had mowed for it to sit on. And there it stayed.

We were only able to go out to the campsite on weekends since Dale was still working. We did get a bit of work done, like putting the shed together. It went up rather well and we were pleased with it and its location. We had Bethany and Erin out one weekend and they got acquainted with the gophers and squirrels that came around. We found the shed big enough to put the golf cart in and it came in handy when it decided to rain and we sat inside to stay dry.

My golf cart fits!

And so did we!

Bethany and Erin made friends with the friendly critters.

After Dale's surgery on June 28th, almost everything was put on hold while recuperated. He was sure he was dying (anyone who has had surgery knows the feeling), but eventually, he resigned himself to being "sort of" an invalid. He was not convinced he couldn't do for himself, so I just let him struggle. Hard-headed men! LOL!

With the boat at the campsite and our family get-together at Rowan's Ravine coming up, he got on the phone and talked to his brother, Terry. Terry very graciously said he would come help us get the boat into the water and drive it for us. In the meantime, I sent an email to our three boys and said, Get your boating license before Rowan's! We need drivers!! I also worked on getting mine and found it relative easy. I had driven our yellow boat a bit and really wasn't comfortable doing it, but I could if I had to. So, I got my license as did Jason and Steve. But I  won't show the picture of me driving - scary!

The boys did a wonderful job and got some help along the way...
Claire loved driving and it took her mind off her life jacket, which she hated and not being allowed to just walk around. Next year we are going to get some sort of "gate" fixed up to keep her at the back. Although she will be a year older.
Evan liked driving and kept focused on where he was going.

We even had "Captain Jack Sparrow" driving - that's Bethany in the hat she got in Disneyland

The kids liked watching the water from the back...

and from the front!

We even blew up Big Mable to give some extra seating

Some were determined to try fishing...

but only Dale was successful - the fish was a throw back

The little girls found it really relaxing and had a little snooze.

Well that's it for now. I'll try to keep this up this week. Thanks for reading!
